All our marquees are modern 'Clearspan' marquees, this means that they do not have any obtrusive internal poles or guy ropes to support the frame other than wall pillars.

One of the main advantages in having a clear span marquee is that the internal space is fully available for seating and a dance floor. It means one does not need to arrange furniture around poles or supports.

Lined marquees are more luxurious and are an essential element of a traditional wedding-style marquee. With unlined marquees, the PVC walls and marquee structure are fully visible, making them more suitable for functional or casual events.

There are a few options available for floor coverings. If the grass or ground that the marquee is on is flat enough you could use nothing extra, coconut matting is another option or perhaps the best option available is a boarded floor which can be carpeted quite easily which gives the very best finish. When we have the stock available we can offer used carpet. Alternatively new carpet is always available in a wide choice of colours.

This will depend on the type of event & setting. We can supply a variety of lighting including chandeliers and uplighting, black out and starlight linings.

The main considerations when determining size of marquee to hire are:

• Available space / land area
• Number of guests and how many are to be seated
• Additional equipment required. For example dance floor, stage, reception area, catering area etc

Two good guides are: For a buffet event: a minimum of 8 square feet per person For a seated event: a minimum of 15 square feet per person based on 5ft round tables

Then, add in space for dance floors, stage, catering tables, DJ's. This will give you a rough idea of your space requirements.

We use the latest 3D AutoCAD technology to draw scale plans incorporating fixtures (furniture, dance floors, stages etc) to ensure optimum use of space. Be assured that we will spend time with you to discuss this, one of the most fundamental decisions to take.

Yes, if the site permits we can erect a frame unit adjacent to any building.

You could have a simple 3m x 3m porch area, or a 3m x 6m walkway. Alternatively you could have a small 6m x 6m reception area or larger 9m x 6m reception area.

We provide a range of additional equipment including furniture (chairs, tables, dance floors, bars) as well as marquee heaters and lighting. We will also provide wooden flooring, which can be carpeted for a more luxurious effect.

This again depends on the type of function and whether they are to be used for eating at catered events or more informal gatherings.

We suggest the following as a guide:

• 4' Round - 6
• 5' Round - 8
• 5' 6'' Round - 10
• 6' Trestle - 8 (3 each side, plus one either end)

You can use a combination of these if you wish to seat 8 at some tables and 10 at others.

Like ourselves, many providers will also supply furniture as part of their package; however unlike us many merely "dump" it at the entrance, leaving you to layout. At Crest Marquees Ltd we lay it out for you, to ensure that you have the perfect spacing between each table and person and that there is no upset amongst your guests over being squashed.

It is always difficult to envisage how your marquee will look. We use software to generate a 3D computer image of your function including interior and table arrangement for you to get a feel of how things will look on the day. This includes an aerial view of the seating plan and dance floor (where applicable) to give one a feeling of the use of space.

For Saturday events, if you require a second use on the Sunday, this can normally be accommodated. During the week, the length of the marquee hire period is by prior arrangement.

You are charged for a 3 day rate (72 hours). Your marquee will usually be installed on a Friday for a Saturday event and collected on a Monday, but this will depend on our transport so it could be 1 or 2 days earlier for delivery and/or collection. Additional periods are available on request as well as long term hire periods. Please contact the office for a quotation or complete your details in our Quotation section.

The delivery and collection costs are built into the overall cost of the marquee.

Specific and "out of hours" deliveries are also available, please contact our office to discuss your requirements.

We recommend allowing roughly 2 1/2 square feet per person for the dance floor and if a stage is required we can supply sections that are 8' x 4" x 1' high.

Most are completed in one day, although this is dependent on distance and size of marquee required. Very often, they can be erected a day or so ahead of the function to allow the client preparation time.

We usually put up marquees on the Wednesday, Thursday or Friday before the event. We then dismantle them on the following Monday or Tuesday. If you have a specific timescale that you need to work to then please let us know, and we will try and schedule accordingly.

Our last job before we leave you is to comb the site for litter. We do ask that catering rubbish and equipment is removed prior to our arrival to dismantle the marquee.

Yes, by using fully boarded floors it is possible to erect a marquee on most surfaces.

Temporarily yes. Grass that has been covered for several days will not look its best but will quickly recover. We are always very careful not to damage plants during the erection and take down of the marquee.

We generally secure our marquees with large stakes and these will damage any cables or pipes running beneath the site. We will check with you as to whether there are services below the site during the site visit.

Our marquees can be laid on most level firm surfaces, although the type of surface will determine how the marquee is fixed to the ground, and what type of internal flooring is recommended. One of our first requirements is a site survey. This will highlight any pre-event work that may be required, such as cutting back surrounding plants, or mowing grass/fields the day before.

Whilst the Clearspan structure can cope with harsher weather conditions than traditional marquees, it is still a temporary structure and can be vulnerable in extreme wind conditions. Snow is also a hindrance to the Clearspan system as the weight can put a strain on the covers in extreme conditions. Under these circumstances, heating levels need to be increased to keep roof sections clear.

On a smaller scale, windy conditions and torrential rain can result in it becoming noisy within the marquee - while excessive rain can cause the area surrounding the marquee to become soft and muddy on a grassy site.

Should the weather be glorious, the marquees' simple design allows for sides to be removed or folded back in sections quickly and easily, so you can enjoy the marquee more as a cover, than an enclosure.

Alternatively, should the temperature drop we use the latest in high-tech heating systems, which are thermostatically activated allowing you to enjoy your marquee regardless of the weather, any time of the year. Our heaters are placed outside of the marquee and deliver ample clean hot air to internal diffusers. Noise levels from these heaters are minimal.

As a guideline, a standard indirect heater will cover an area approximately 12m x 12m (40ft x 40ft) for 14 hours from one tank of fuel. Under a normal load the generators will run constantly for a 24hr period.

Generally, you only need a licence if you are intending to charge for alcoholic drinks. If this is the case, the people running your bar should apply for this from the local magistrate.

We do charge for missing, broken or damaged items. All equipment is the responsibility of the hirer for the duration of the hire period. Be sure equipment is secured when not in use and protected from weather.

This provides you indemnity against the cost of any repairs should our equipment be accidentally damaged during the hire period. indemnity does not extend to damage caused by deliberate abuse or neglect. Theft and loss are also excluded from the waiver.

Additions are welcome subject to availability. Small deletions prior to delivery (except marquees) can be accommodated.

Can I make last minute changes to my marquee?

Within reason, yes. Changes to items such as furniture, colours etc can normally be accommodated a couple of weeks before the event. We will also try to accommodate more significant changes but this will depend on availability.

Yes, it is important that we visit the site. Apart from the opportunity to meet you, it gives us a chance to survey the site for suitability. If all is well, we will provide you with 3D plans, together with a fully itemised quotation to show you exactly what we can offer. Our site visits are free and without obligation.

Please book as early as possible, especially for the busy summer and Christmas periods. We reserve the right to add a premium for orders received less than 7 days prior to an event.

When hiring a marquee we recommend that you allow at least 1 day before your event starts for installation.

Payment terms: deposit of 20% of order value with booking form followed by the remaining balance when the Company has completed the set up.
